Sandro Scandolo

Sandro ScandoloSandro ScandoloSandro Scandolo coordinates the Research Division of the Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP), a UNESCO Institute in Trieste, Italy. He holds a PhD in Physics from the Scuola Normale Superiore in Pisa, Italy. He is a condensed matter theorist with a special interest in the computational modeling of matter at extreme conditions of pressure and temperature. He has contributed to the development of the Quantum-Espresso software for the ab-initio modeling of materials. He is the recipient of the 1998 GRC J.C. Jamieson award. He combines his research activity with initiatives to foster the development of science in the developing world. He is the Deputy Secretary General of the International Union of Pure and Applied Physics (IUPAP) and a Fellow of the American Physical Society. He is a member of the editorial board of "High-Pressure Research". He was elected AIRAPT ExC Member in 2023. E-mail: scandolo@ictp.it
