The American Physical Society (APS) has announced that a Neil Ashcroft Early Career Award for Studies of Matter at Extreme High Pressure Conditions will be conferred annually, starting from 2023.

The Neil Ashcroft Early Career Award honors and celebrates the outstanding contributions to the theory of matter under extreme conditions by the late Professor Neil W. Ashcroft. The award itself is established in 2022 with a generous endowment from Judith Ashcroft and the Ashcroft family.

Nominations for the inaugural prize open on April 15, 2022 and close on the date below. The first Ashcroft Award will be conferred in 2023.
