The Department of Geosciences at Princeton University has an opening for a postdoctoral researcher in the area of high-pressure mineral physics. Qualifications include a Ph.D. in Geosciences, Physics, Materials Science or a related field. Research opportunities are available on a range of projects focusing on the experimental study of geological and other materials at high pressure and temperature conditions. Our research program uses both static (diamond anvil and Paris-Edinburgh cells) and dynamic (high-powered lasers and gas guns) compression techniques to study structural and electronic transitions, equations of state, and elasticity of glasses and crystals over a wide range of pressures, temperatures, and strain rates. The successful candidate will be creative and self-motivated with strong hands-on experimental skills and analytical ability. While the position is based in Princeton, portions of the work will be carried out at remote facilities.
