[20190501] Postdoctoral Position in High-Pressure Mineral Physics at Princeton University, USA

The Department of Geosciences at Princeton University has an opening for a postdoctoral researcher in the area of high-pressure mineral physics. Qualifications include a Ph.D. in Geosciences, Physics, Materials Science or a related field. Research opportunities are available on a range of projects focusing on the experimental study of geological and other materials at high pressure and temperature conditions. Our research program uses both static (diamond anvil and Paris-Edinburgh cells) and dynamic (high-powered lasers and gas guns) compression techniques to study structural and electronic transitions, equations of state, and elasticity of glasses and crystals over a wide range of pressures, temperatures, and strain rates. The successful candidate will be creative and self-motivated with strong hands-on experimental skills and analytical ability. While the position is based in Princeton, portions of the work will be carried out at remote facilities. The position is available for one year, with a possibility for renewal contingent upon satisfactory performance and funding. Inquiries can be sent to Prof. T. Duffy (duffy@princeton.edu). Applications including a cover letter, a curriculum vitae, a publication list, and contact information for three references can be submitted through the Princeton University Academic Hiring website at https://www.princeton.edu/acad-positions/position/10481.
