Postdoctoral Position : 1

The University of Saskatchewan and Canadian Light Source offers a unique opportunity for a two year postdoctoral position in the subject of high pressure physics.

Position Summary

Under the scientific supervision of Professor John Tse (University of Saskatchewan) the applicant is going to work on high pressure studies using infrared- and X-ray spectroscopies at various beamlines at the Canadian Light Source, Inc. The duties of this position range from the instrumentation and experiment design through data acquisition to data processing providing a wide range of experience for the successful applicant.

Responsibilities
- Design and conduct experiments independently.
- Prepare research papers for publication independently or together with collaborators.
- Present research findings at seminars and conferences.
- Document research investigations such that results may be duplicated.

Essential Qualifications
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English
- Recent PhD in physics or materials science
- Demonstrated knowledge in high pressure experiments
- Experience with diamond anvil cell measurements
- Good knowledge of instrument/experiment building and interfacing

Desired Qualifications
- Good programming skills, experience with LabView

Postdoctoral position : 2

A postdoctoral position is available immediately i n the Computational High Pressure Physics Group led by Prof. John S. Tse at the University of Saskatchewan. The initial appointment is two years with the possibility of renewal.

Essential Qualifications

Candidates should have a PhD in Physics or Chemistry with a solid background in condensed matter and an demonstrated skill in computational methods for electronic structure calculations and practical programming knowledge.

Responsibilities

The research fellow will be involved on a number of on-going projects ongoing around the theme of "Correlated Methods at High Pressure" and has the opportunity to participate in experimental research at the Canadian Light Source and other synchrotron.
