[20181231] Post-doctoral position at Harvard (USA)

I am seeking to appoint a postdoctoral fellow in my high-pressure research group in the physics department at Harvard University. The position is available immediately. The research program: This position is for research at high pressure using diamond anvil cells and mainly optical techniques. The main thrust of our research program is the study of the properties of metallic hydrogen and its isotopes, hydrogen/deuterium/HD, by pressurizing into the multi-megabar region. I am looking for someone interested in challenging research and developing experimental techniques. Our lab is well equipped with high-pressure apparatus including several diamond anvil cells, CW and pulsed lasers, NMR, optical and IR spectroscopic equipment, high and low temperature apparatus, etc. We also have direct access to the local Harvard Center for Nanoscale Sciences with wonderful facilities.

My preference is for a person with a physics background with diamond anvil cell experience, some low temperature experience, and/or laser and optical experience, but any subset of these experiences would be useful. All qualified candidates will be considered. Harvard University is an equal opportunity employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability status, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.

If interested, please apply by e-mail to Isaac F. Silvera (silvera@physics.harvard.edu); Lyman Laboratory of Physics, Harvard University, Cambridge MA 02138. Applicants should send a CV, publication list, and have three reference letters sent to me (include the reference list in your application).
