[20130901] Post-doc in Computational Materials Design, Geophysical Lab CIW, Washington, USA

The Geophysical Laboratory, Carnegie Institution of Washington, seeks applications a postdoctoral position in the field of computational materials design. The positions will focus on computational predictions of new materials with advanced properties and on calculating experimentally viable pathways to achieve them.

Minimum qualifications:  A PhD in physics, chemistry, materials science or a related field is the requirement for this position. Candidates should have experience with first-principles  electronic structure methods, be able to program in c++ and f90, and be able to write and communicate effectively.

Desired qualifications:  Experience with molecular dynamics and Monte Carlo. Experience with rare event sampling methods is also desired. Successful candidates are expected to be able to work in both independent and collaborative group environments.

The appointment is for one year, with the potential for renewal for a second year pending progress and available funding.  The position is available immediately and will remain open until filled.  Interested parties can submit an application via the Geophysical Laboratory website.
