[20110900] Tenured research scientist position at LMV Clermont-Ferrand, France

Experimentalist in high pressure geosciences.

The Laboratoire Magmas et Volcans (Clermont-Ferrand, France, http://wwwobs.univ-bpclermont.fr/lmv/indexEN.php) seeks an experimental geoscientist for a tenured entry-level research scientist position. The successful candidate is expected to be an integral part of the experimental petrology group, which is a 15-permanent researcher group covering diverse research related to processes of the Earth interior including experimental mineralogy-petrology, magmatology and trace element geochemistry. Our facility include 2 multi-anvil presses, 3 piston cylinders, ensemble of gas pressure apparatuses, micro-scale sample heating apparatuses designed for melt inclusion experiments, diamond anvil cells. Using this facility as a preparation platform, some members regularly conduct in-situ experiments (e.g. synchrotron radiation). The Experimental Petrology group also benefits from the strong analytical potential of the LMV. Analytical facilities include a micro-FTIR, SEM, EPMA, LA-ICPMS, as well as other analytical facilities (e.g. multi-collection mass-specs). We strongly encourage applicants with diverse background.

The interested candidates should contact us with a brief description of the research interests and a CV. Please note that the hiring procedure in France is somewhat different from many parts of the world. Upon the
reception of the application, we will recontact the candidate with further administrative information. The application should be sent to Ken Koga (group leader), via email (K.Koga@opgc.univ-bpclermont.fr).
