Taku TsuchiyaTaku Tsuchiya is a theoretical mineral physicist and a director of the Geodynamics Research Center (GRC) at Ehime University, Japan. He earned his PhD in Science from Osaka University in 2000, becoming an Associate professor at GRC in 2005 and a Professor in 2009. Using first principles computation methods, he studies physical and chemical properties of Earth and planetary materials, predicting several novel phase transitions in oxides and silicates while elucidating their thermodynamic, thermoelastic, and thermal transport properties. His research has significantly contributed to understanding the structure and evolution of Earth and planetary interiors. For those achievements, he has received the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) Prize, the Japan Association of Mineralogical Sciences Award, the Japan Society of the High-Pressure Science and Technology Award, and the Nishida Prize from Japan Geoscience Union. He serves on the editorial board of the journal "Physics and Chemistry of Minerals". He was elected AIRAPT ExC Member in 2023.
