Geophysical Laboratory of Carnegie Institution of Washington, a private research organization in Washington D.C. (https://www.gl.ciw.edu/), seeks a Post Doctoral Scholar in the field of materials science under extreme conditions of pressure and temperature. The prospective recipient will be working at the Geophysical Laboratory, Carnegie Institution of Washington, and will be a part of the Energy Frontier at Extreme Environments Center.

The responsibilities of this position are primarily focused on developing and applying new ultafast laser techniques for studies of electronic, magnetic, and vibrational excitations in materials at extreme conditions of pressure and temperature aiming to elucidate the nature of collective phenomena in condensed matter such as superconductivity, magnetism, and electronic correlations. Expertise in nonlinear optics, fast lasers, and optical spectroscopy is required.

The preferred start date for this position is immediate. Interested parties should send a cover letter, resume or curriculum vitae, statement of research interests, and contact information for a minimum of three
