ROLE of the Assistant / Associate Research Professor POSITIONS
Conduct experimental research on material properties at high pressures under the auspices of the DOE/NNSA supported High Pressure Science and Engineering Center (HiPSEC) at UNLV. Research opportunities include laser spectroscopy, x-ray and neutron diffractions, high P-T materials synthesis, crystal structure analysis, equation of state, constitutive property, acoustic elasticity, phase transformation, and reaction kinetics of novel compounds, energetic materials, metals, ceramics, and minerals of interest. The employee will be expected to conceive and do original research, to qualify for appointment to the graduate faculty for the purpose of directing research of graduate and undergraduate students, and to publish regularly in refereed professional journals. The position is a full-time 12 month, non-tenure track appointment.

QUALIFICATIONS
Ph.D. in Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science, and Earth Science or related field from an accredited college or university plus three (3+ for Assistant) / five (5+ for Associate) or more years of postdoctoral and professional research experience including significant experience at synchrotron light sources and a significant record of publications in refereed professional journals is required.

SALARY RANGE
Salary competitive with those at similarly situated institutions. Position is contingent upon funding.
