MR06: Ices: from Planetary Interiors to Astrobiology
Special Session at the 2010 Fall AGU Meeting, San Francisco, USA, December 13th-17th, 2010

Description:
This session focuses on the study of physical and chemical properties of planetary ices that are the main constituents of the objects evolving in the outer solar system. Starting from observational data of surface ices and from the physical and chemical properties of ices, we may progress toward a more comprehensive view and dynamics of ices at depth and at the surface of the various icy objects of the outer solar system, like Enceladus for instance. Beyond the properties of ices, hydrates, clathrates, we want to discuss the petrology of ices, the influence of ices on organic molecules and life, etc. Contributions from all these fields and beyond are welcome with an aim to create an exchange zone where interdisciplinarity is promoted.
